This is how St. George - a Roman cavalry officer - would have appeared in
England's fair and pleasant land in the V century AD. Enjoy the trip!

Is Colchester Camelot? Was King Arthur a Colcestrian? Lucius Artorius Castus
- Arthur of the Britons - Artorius Rex - King Arthur?*

L. Artorius Castus, 'dux' ('leader') of the cohorts of cavalry from Britain' would have looked very similar to the cavalry men below. Julius Caesar used the title 'Dux' for Celtic leaders.
Pre Roman Colchester was the Celtic town and base of king Cunebelin of the Celtic tribe Catuvellauni, named Camuludunum. it became the first Capital City (Civitas) of Roman Britain, 'Britannia Superior' or Great Britain.
Roman Camuludunum was destroyed by Boudicca - queen of the Iceni - in AD 60, as was St. Albans and Londinium. All were rebuilt.
